Pakistan Auto Sales Rise 20% in August 2026 as Larger Cars Drive Growth

Pakistan's passenger car and pickup sales reached 15,558 units in August 2026, rising 20% year on year as the 1300cc and above segment led market growth.

Pakistan's automobile market recorded strong year-on-year growth in August 2026, with passenger car and pickup sales reaching 15,558 units, according to figures cited in the report.

Sales increased 20% compared with August 2025, with the 1300cc and above segment identified as the primary contributor to overall growth.

Several manufacturers recorded substantial increases during the month, while truck and bus sales also moved higher.

Honda Sales Jump 145%

Honda Atlas Cars Pakistan, identified in the report as HCAR, recorded one of the strongest year-on-year increases among listed car and pickup manufacturers.

HCAR sold 2,633 units in August 2026, representing growth of 145% year on year.

The increase was largely associated with sales of the Honda City and Civic.

Combined City and Civic sales reached 2,553 units, representing a 265% increase compared with the corresponding period a year earlier.

HR-V and BR-V Sales Decline

Honda's overall performance was strong, but not every model category recorded growth.

Combined sales of the HR-V and BR-V fell to 80 units during August 2026.

That represented a 79% year-on-year decline from 374 units recorded in August 2025.

The figures show a significant difference in performance between Honda's City and Civic models and its HR-V and BR-V category.

Indus Motor Sales Reach 4,029 Units

Indus Motor Company, identified as INDU in the report, also recorded higher sales.

The company sold 4,029 units in August 2026, an increase of 19% year on year.

The increase was largely supported by Toyota Corolla, Yaris and Cross sales.

Combined sales of those models rose 21% year on year to 3,079 units.

Meanwhile, the IMV category recorded sales of 950 units, representing more moderate growth of 12% compared with the previous year.

GAL X200 Pickup Records Sharp Increase

The GAL X200 pickup also recorded substantial year-on-year growth.

Sales reached 275 units during August, representing an increase of 213% compared with August 2025.

The increase came despite what the source describes as a slowdown.

Truck and Bus Sales Rise 20%

Growth was not limited to passenger cars and pickups.

Pakistan's truck and bus segment recorded 875 unit sales in August 2026, representing an increase of 20% year on year.

GHNI remained the market leader in the segment, selling 501 units during the month.

The figures suggest commercial vehicle demand also contributed to the automobile industry's improved performance.

JAC Truck Sales More Than Double

GAL delivered 116 JAC trucks during August, compared with 50 units during the corresponding month last year.

The report attributes the increase primarily to strong demand for two recently launched models:

The JAC 1120, a 20-foot truck, and the JAC 1042, a 14-foot truck.

The increase indicates growing demand for the company's newer commercial vehicle offerings.

HINO Records Moderate Growth

HINO also recorded higher sales volumes, but its performance remained comparatively subdued.

Volumes increased 13% year on year, with the report describing the company's performance as sluggish and pointing to competitive pressure in the higher-end truck segment.

The result contrasts with the stronger growth recorded by some other manufacturers during the month.

Larger Vehicles Lead August Growth

The August figures show that Pakistan's auto market recorded broad year-on-year growth across passenger vehicles and commercial categories.

The most significant increases included Honda's City and Civic models, GAL's X200 pickup and JAC trucks.

At the same time, individual segments continued to show contrasting performances, including the substantial decline reported for Honda's HR-V and BR-V category.

For now, the August data shows passenger car and pickup sales at 15,558 units, 20% higher than a year earlier, with vehicles in the 1300cc and above segment providing the main support for market growth.
